Hey everyone, im Betzy, I am the oldest granddaughter of Efren. For anyone who knows my grandpa he is a very stubborn man, he works hard for his lifestyle and is very proud of how much he has achieved since coming to this country. Up until June of 2021 he spent every Saturday and Sunday playing baseball at Hansen dam, Branford, Pierce, the back park and ultimately any park playing baseball since 10 am until 5 pm coming home and hosting a carne asada for all his friends. Working Monday through Friday always playing with his grandkids and making time for his family. His illness was caused by excessive drinking at a young age. He’s been completely sober for 12+years

Last year shortly after his 65th birthday my grandpa was hospitalized for the first time due to gallbladder complications which led to the discovery of CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER being that has liver began to fail he was hospitalized a second time which led to the removal of his gallbladder which seemed to worsen his condition. After being stable enough to come home under strict care and diet he was hospitalized a 3 rd time at ucla where we were told the only option was a transplant.

My grandpa has been unable to work due to his condition since July. He was unable to qualify for medical and ended up losing his eligibility for Medicaid in October. Recently my uncle lost a lot of work due to COVID and is just starting to work again. We’ve fallen behind with his physician, hospital, Medicaid, and medicine bills.

Any help is genuinely appreciated from the bottom of our hearts, my grandpa is the funniest most easy going person, he has a humongous heart and is always willing to help and be the ultimate dad and treats every single person in his life like one of his own.
