My name is Eric Galloway and I am the Senior Advisor at Effie Kokrine Charter School in Fairbanks, Alaska. The goal of this fundraiser is to help my students with the costs associated with having traditional regalia made to wear at their graduation this year.
Our target is to have 100% of our students wear regalia at their graduation ceremony this year. It is such an important time of their life and being able to tie it into their culture will make it even more special. We have 22 potential graduates from all across Alaska and the world - Allakaket, Alatna, Arizona, Atqasuk, Bettles, Evansville, Fairbanks, Fort Yukon, Grayling, Huslia, Indonesia, Kotzebue, McGrath, Minto, Navajo Nation, Nenana, Oneida Nation, Rampart, Ruby, Stevens Village, Tanana, Utqiagvik, and Wisconsin. They all would love to be able to proudly show their culture as they transition from high school into their adult lives.
Funds will be used to help families with being able to get supplies (moose hide, deer hide, beaver fur, fabric, beading, for example) and to be able to pay for regalia to be made, for those that don't have family members to make it for them.
Any help would be appreciated, if even just sharing this across social media. Any money made that is not spent on regalia will be donated to our senior class for their (hopeful) senior trip to Hawaii. Thank you so much!!
