Help Eevee Get the Care She Deserves
On September 26, 2024, my fiancé and I had an encounter with a stray cat while walking our dogs in an open field near our apartment complex. She was sitting on her right side while staring back at us but didn't try to run away as we approached her. We brought her up and notified the apartment as well as posted a FOUND cat on Pawboost, facebook lost and found pet pages and animal control center in hoping it was somebody's cat.
Long story short, she's not anyone's cat. She's not chipped nor had a collar. We noticed that she was VERY skinny and had a limp in her right leg which made me realized she might've dislocated her hip or something severe so we scheduled a stray-cat appt at our vet the next morning. Our vet took x-rays of her hip and it showed an obvious break to the right femur :(. The vet assumed she's been a stray her whole 7 months of life... It broke our hearts realizing she's been fending herself in the wild with a broken leg. Our vet discussed potential treatment options which were amputation or ortho surgery. Amputation was the recommended option. Our vet said that while ortho surgery to repair it would be possible, that it would lead to a much harder recovery and arthritis issues further down the road.
We've done extensive research and decided the best route would be amputation as it had a higher successful rate with little to no post-op complications as opposed to ortho surgery. As first-time cat parents, we’re doing everything we can to give Eevee the love and care she needs. But, like many rescues, the expenses are adding up quickly. We've already gotten her spayed, chipped and vaccinated. We’re reaching out to our community for support in covering the following:
Surgery: Amputation of her broken leg to help her live pain-free. The cost for the surgery alone is estimated to be $1,200.
Post-op care: Medication, checkups, and any additional treatments to ensure Eevee heals properly and doesn’t face further complications.
We’re so grateful to have found Eevee. Despite the pain she’s been in, she’s so sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She’s been through more than any cat should ever have to experience, but she’s showing us every day just how resilient she is. Now, we’re asking for your help to give her the chance she deserves to live a full, healthy, and happy life. But we can’t do this alone—every little bit helps, whether it’s a donation, sharing this page with others, or sending good vibes Eevee’s way. We greatly appreciate everything. We can’t wait to see her run and play again—pain free and full of joy!
