Edwina has had ongoing issues with her back for many years. Surgeries, hospital stays, pain, etc.. In spite of all this, she still shows up! Working her butt off, baking bomb goods, and always finding a way to help someone else! Well now she needs our help!

On 3/27/2026 Edwina was sent to The Omaha Medical Center in Nebraska for an Emergency Thoracic Fusion with bilateral lamenectomy due to partial abdominal paralysis with paralytic ileus.

The surgery was successful!! Yaayy! But here are still a few hurdles shes got to jump (not physically of course)! With Gordon being out of work due to his heart condition, not only did they lose their good insurance, she has to have some sort of in home health care lined up to come before she goes home.

There are minimal treatment options in Iowa for this extensive level of thoracic surgery (Iowa wouldn't touch her back with Nebraskas tools) and aftercare. These are what she was given...

1st option: Inpatient Rehab in Omaha

Cons- Extended hotel stay/travel costs

Being away from family

2nd option: Inpatient in Clive Iowa

Cons- Travel cost

Insurance will only cover the week

3rd option: In home care for the next 6 to 8 weeks

Cons- Insurance covers 60% of this cost

Let's do what we can to ease the burden of this so Auntie can focus on healing and get back to doing what she loves! Bills won't stop and she's going to be off work for a bit!!
