Hi, my name is Marlene and I'm starting this GoFundMe for our friend Edward Chen. Due to a bleeding ulcer in his small intestine, he ended up in the hospital for 44 days. He was in intensive care for 14 of those days. His heart became weak, and his lungs were not working sufficiently, so he had to be on oxygen most of his time in the hospital, and then his kidney stopped working. He is presently on dialysis 3 times per week for 3 hours each time. They hope that his kidney will restart so that he can resume his normal life someday soon. Presently he’s at home and doing physical therapy to build up strength for walking. His wife has also had to take time off to care for him.

Unfortunately, he is a tax preparer who has missed the whole tax season and most of his income for the year. Besides their regular monthly bills, he has rent to pay for his office, a mortgage payment on their home, and the deductible from the hospital bill.
