Eduardo Hernandez was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in October 2025. Eddie, as he is known by his friends and family, supports his wife, Lulu, and 3 children, Eduardo, Layla, and Madylyn. Biopsies have recently shown that he has 2 masses, one in his stomach and one on his liver. The pressure of both masses has created aspiration pneumonia. Eddie was hospitalized on Thanksgiving Day at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital and has not been released, as he continues to be treated for the pain and pneumonia. His mother, Sally Duran, and his wife, Lulu, have been by his side throughout his hospital stay.

Eddie will start chemotherapy treatments as soon as he is released from the hospital. However, he will have to pay for treatments out-of-pocket until January 2026. Then, he will have to meet his deductible of $4,000 to be able to cover the cost of those chemotherapy treatments.

The burden of cost is heavy for Eddie and his family in addition to the stress and strain of treatments, health issues, and the upcoming Christmas holiday.
