My name is Edna Corsey, and I am humbly asking for help during one of the hardest times of my life. I am 77 years old, raising my four grandchildren with my elderly partner after losing our daughter —their mother —suddenly in March 2025. Since her passing, our world has completely fallen apart.
After her death, I became the full-time caregiver to the children. We did everything we could to keep them safe and provide stability. But a few months later, the children’s benefits were wrongfully stopped, causing a lapse in rent payments. Even after the mistake was corrected and we paid the landlord, they returned our payment and evicted us to move another family in.
We went to court hoping to fight the eviction, but the judge only gave us three days to remove all of our belongings. Since July, we have been living in hotels, spending nearly $17,000 of our limited funds just to keep a roof over the children’s heads.
We are now running out of money. Every day is a struggle. We are barely eating — just trying to stretch what little we have left to make sure the kids get something. I’ve applied for food stamps and housing, but was told our income is “too high,” even though every penny we have goes straight to paying for hotels. We have nowhere else to go, and we’re doing everything in our power to hold on and survive.
My partner and I are both elderly and facing our own health issues, but our main concern has always been the children. They’ve already lost their mother; they deserve safety, stability, and hope.
I am asking, from the bottom of my heart, for any help you can offer —whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or helping us find housing resources that could finally give these children a real home again.
Every dollar will go directly toward shelter, food, and securing stable housing for the kids. Thank you so much for reading our story, for caring, and for any support you can give during this desperate time.
With gratitude,
Edna Corsey
