My daughter Edith, a 12-year-old Year 7 student, has earned a place at the World Scholars Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University this November. Her journey began when she helped a friend prepare for the regional round, which led her to compete in the global round in Kuala Lumpur. Edith’s dedication to her studies and her passion for learning have opened this incredible door for her.
The Tournament of Champions at Yale is a unique opportunity for Edith to participate in debating, general knowledge quizzes, and collaborative writing. She’ll be stepping out of her comfort zone, working in teams, and mingling with thousands of students from around the world. This experience will not only challenge her academically but also help her build lifelong friendships and reconnect with friends she met in Kuala Lumpur.
The costs for this trip are significant, including entry fees, flights, accommodation, and visas. With such a tight turnaround—having just returned from Kuala Lumpur at the end of August and needing to be in the USA by early November—there isn’t much time to fundraise or save. We’re reaching out to our community for support to help Edith seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and represent her school and country on a global stage. Any contribution will make a real difference in helping her achieve her dreams.
