We are a newly founded (now second year) robotics team based out of Edison High School. We compete as part of the First Tech Challenge (First Inspires Website) in which we create a robot to compete against other teams in a different challenge every year. Each year we are given a set of constraints (size, certain parts, etc.) to work around. Our team was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, so most of last year we operated out of a basement and had little to no funding other than contributions from the members.
The parts we used were several years old, leftover from the old, disbanded robotics team. Last year, despite all the obstacles we faced, we managed to finish 12th in the State competition out of 32 teams. We are hoping this year that you could donate to us and help us fund another year of robotics. As the only robot at the competition that showed up donning cardboard and duct tape, we will be putting this money toward new parts that can give us a fighting chance against the other well-funded teams. Unlike last year, we're heavily working to recruit new members to help sustain the future of our club. Robotics is more than just a club, we're part of the STEM community and are fostering the next generation of engineers, programmers, and IT professionals.
