Help Eden Sunshine Fight Lewy Body Dementia for More Memories, More Milestones, More Time

My greatest wish is simple: when the day comes that I get married, I want my dad standing beside me, able to walk me down the aisle.

My name is Rebecca, and I am Eden Sunshine’s youngest daughter.
I still live at home, so I have a front-row seat to what Lewy Body Dementia has taken from my dad and to the incredible courage and faith with which he faces it every single day.

My dad is only 63 years old, yet he has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, a devastating disease that affects both memory and movement. This disease is not unfamiliar to our family, my dad’s own father passed away from Lewy Body Dementia.

Watching someone you love slowly lose pieces of their independence is heartbreaking, especially when that person has always been so strong, active, and full of life.

To so many people, my dad is known as a devoted husband of 31 years, a loving father of four, and a proud Pop Pop to three amazing grandchildren. He spent 26 years building and running his own consulting company, working tirelessly to provide for our family. In 2025, because of the progression of his disease, he was forced to close the business he had worked so hard to build.

My dad has always been the kind of person who never sits still. He worked out every day, practiced Krav Maga, loved wake surfing, and embraced every challenge life put in front of him. Today, because of Lewy Body Dementia, he can no longer drive, run his business, or participate in many of the activities he once loved.

But if you know my dad, you know that his greatest strength has never been his physical ability, it has always been his faith.

Our family loves Jesus, and my dad is a man of deep and unwavering faith. Through every difficult appointment, every setback, and every uncertainty, he continues to trust God. He believes that the Lord is his provider, healer, and source of strength. Even in the middle of this diagnosis, he has never lost hope. He trusts that God can work through prayer, through community, and through the medical treatments available to him.

Recently, my mom and dad traveled to Santa Barbara for a two-week intensive neurotherapy program. The treatment is FDA-approved, although unfortunately it is not covered by insurance. They went with hope, but none of us expected to see the improvements we did.

After just two weeks, my dad experienced noticeable improvements in both his memory and his Parkinson-like symptoms. The most emotional moment came when he was able to wake surf again for the first time in over a year and a half. Watching him do something he loves after so long felt like getting a piece of my dad back. It gave all of us hope that there are still meaningful ways to improve his quality of life and slow the progression of this disease.

His doctors believe that continuing neurotherapy may help him maintain these gains and potentially slow further decline. While there is no cure for Lewy Body Dementia, this treatment has already made a difference in ways we can see with our own eyes.

The challenge is that these treatments are expensive, not easily accessible and insurance does not cover them.

That is why I am asking for help.

Every donation will go directly toward ongoing neurotherapy treatments, travel expenses related to care, and the costs associated with managing my dad’s condition.

As his youngest daughter, there is something I think about often. One day, I hope to get married, and more than anything, I want my dad there. I want him to walk me down the aisle. I want him to be present for the milestones still ahead. I want him to watch his grandchildren grow, continue being Pop Pop, and make memories with the people he loves most.

Most of all, I want more time with my dad.

Our family believes firmly that God is in control, and we trust Him with every step of this journey. We know that He often works through the kindness and generosity of others, and we are incredibly grateful for any support you feel led to give.

If you are unable to donate, we would be so thankful for your prayers and for sharing this fundraiser with others.

Thank you for helping us fight for more memories, more milestones, and more time with the man we love.

With gratitude,
Rebecca Sunshine
