On Friday, May 30th, I came home from work to my cat, my baby boy, Eddie, acting extremely unusual. He’s still pretty much a kitten, normally very active, running up and down the hallways, meowing loudly, and jumping up on my shoulder when I come home from work. Today, he was lying down, very lethargic, and did not acknowledge me at all.

When I went to check on him, I noticed blood on his side near his hip and we immediately rushed him to the emergency vet where they ran diagnostics and imaging. They discovered he had been shot by a pellet gun and was in early stages of sepsis. He was extremely unstable so they began him on fluids and antibiotics and had us transfer him to the animal hospital so he could be admitted to the ICU.

That’s where I’m sitting now. It’s been over five hours of not knowing what’s going to happen. His odds aren’t great but I have to try. I have to give him the best chance because he gave me another chance. I had been extremely depressed before I got him off the street in January of this year. He gave me a reason to keep going and to keep trying. He’s my baby. He saved me and now I have to save him.

Ive set a goal of $5,000 because that was our original estimate. The doctor just left our waiting room and if Eddie makes it all the way through surgery the estimate is closer to $8,000. I know that’s a lot. I know a lot of people are struggling right now so any amount you’re able to give is so so so appreciated.
