Help Eddie pay legal fees for asylum case

Donation protected
Eddie, my friend & colleague, has been living in the U.S. legally for years with an asylum case in process. He has no criminal record and has never missed an immigration appointment. Despite holding advanced degrees from the University of Managua, he has not been able to use them because they are not recognized in the U.S. Eddie has worked nonstop at a variety of jobs—bus boy, driver, construction worker, etc.—to save sufficient capital to pursue a new career as a licensed contractor. He recently started a small business; if you're an entrepreneur, you'll understand. There are so many up front costs and cash flow fluctuates.

Eddie is now threatened with fines/detention if he does not file an appeal in time & remains in the U.S. beyond his leave-by date. USCIS alleges he signed a voluntary deportation order, which he did not, and has given him a leave-by date of June 11, 2026. Eddie is exactly the kind of person who should be allowed to stay—he has so much to give and contribute to our economy and society. Nicaraguans (along with others) have faced particular persecution since TPS was revoked. Eddie is a good person who does not deserve to have his case summarily denied.

Your donation will help him cover the cost of his legal fees and give him a chance to stay and continue contributing to our community. He is smart, capable, incredibly hard-working, and worthy of a helping hand. The Bible says, “When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong... you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt” Leviticus 19:33-34 (ESV). Let us combat together the vicious policies of this administration and fulfill God's directive about how immigrants ought to be treated. Even if you are not a religious person, please consider donating for the collective good of our humanity. Thank you for taking the time to read about Eddie's situation. Please help in any way you can, whether that's donating or sharing! Thank you <3
