Help Bring Eddie Home
Hi, my name is Alfonso Alejo, and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Jesus Eduardo Rubio Hernández, who most of us know simply as Eddie.
Eddie was picked up by ICE while at work on Monday, June 23rd, and is now in immigration detention. This has been a sudden and heartbreaking situation for everyone who knows and loves him.
I’ve known Eddie for over 10 years, and in that time, I’ve come to know him as one of the kindest, most dependable people I’ve ever met. If you needed a ride, help moving, or just someone to talk to—Eddie was there. No questions asked. That’s just who he is. Whatever you need, whenever you need it—Eddie shows up.
Eddie has been in the United States since he was just 8 years old. His parents brought him here in search of a better life, and this country—especially Grand Rapids, MI—is the only home he’s ever known. He’s a proud part of our community, a good friend, and someone we all count on.
We’ve connected with an immigration attorney to help fight for Eddie’s release and to explore every legal option available. Unfortunately, these legal battles are not cheap, and that’s why we’re reaching out for support.
All donations will go directly toward legal fees and potential bond costs. No amount is too small, and every bit of support helps bring him one step closer to home.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. Let’s show ICE and our community that Eddie is not alone.
With deep gratitude,
Alfonso Alejo
