Help Eddie Mony Study Opera at IU

Please help fund Eddie Mony’s dream to sing opera on the world stage – the first Kenyan tenor to do so. Eddie has a rich, gorgeous voice. The only thing larger than his talent is his heart and determination.
Eddie was still a young boy when his father died in 2000, and his mother’s earnings could barely sustain the family. Through various scholarships and tremendous tenacity and hard work, Eddie managed to attend high school in Narobi where he encountered classical music for the first time. There he also met Indiana University Jacobs’ School of Music opera coach, Kimberly Carballo, through the program Tunaweza Kimuzik (Through Music, We Are Able).” Eddie was accepted to the Jacobs’ School where he was an undergraduate opera student of Professor Andreas Poulimenos.
Eddie, supported by the Martyn Donaldson Music Trust, has performed solo concerts in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Finland. He has also performed closer to home, in the historic Tivoli Theater in Spencer, Indiana. And, as a gift to his adopted hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, Eddie performed alongside the world-famous Sylvia McNair at a concert that raised over $4,000 for Monroe County Habitat for Humanity.
To achieve his dream, Eddie needs to further his education. Despite receiving a generous scholarship from the Jacobs’ School, holding a paying job singing at a Church in Columbus, Indiana, and working as a custodian at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Eddie is still short $20,000 for tuition for his Master’s degree, the essential next step in his musical education and career.
Eddie has a unique talent and unstoppable drive. Please contribute whatever you can, small or large, to be part of his remarkable success story. Thanks for your support and friendship!
