My name is Eddie, I’m 28 years old, and I live with my girlfriend, Jane, and our dog, Beef. Growing up in poverty taught me to be resourceful, but it also meant that when I went to college, I had to rely on credit cards just to afford rent and food. Things became even more difficult during the pandemic, when I lost my job and had no choice but to use my credit cards even more to get by.

Now, the bills have piled up to the point where the monthly payments are overwhelming. It feels like no matter how hard I work, I can’t get ahead. The weight of this debt is holding me back from building a better future for myself and my little family. If I can pay off my credit cards, I’ll finally be able to save for an engagement ring, purchase a home, and start a family—things I’ve always dreamed of but have felt out of reach because of my financial situation.
