Help Ed with an unexpected Medical Expense

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Linda Oquendo. I am fundraising for my son, Edwin Oquendo. Ed has endured so much trauma in his life. In 1995 when he was in college, he was struck by a freight train. He laid on the track for over 2 hours until another train came by and the engineer saw him. About a quarter of the second train went over him until it could stop. As a result of the accident, his left arm and left leg were amputated. Several years later he was attending a get-together at his friend's house and a fight broke out. He went out to see what was going on but was not involved in the fighting. Unfortunately one of the thugs hit him in the head with a baseball bat. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, fractured orbital bone and fractured cheek bone. At that time, he had to have a craniotomy to relieve the pressure in his brain. On September 25, 2023, he was not feeling well. He was running a fever and was in extreme pain. On the verge of passing out, he finally agreed to go to the hospital via ambulance. The diagnosis was a perforated bowel. The waste from his colon had spread in his belly and spread to his bloodstream. The surgeons did a great job, but he now has a temporary colostomy. This will be for about 6 to 8 weeks then hopefully everything will be fine. I retired from my job and am now existing on a fixed income which barely covers everyday expenses. I know that the bills from this surgery will be quite high. Ed has insurance, but they pay a portion of the claims leaving him with a patient responsibility. He could really use some help in this case. And the bizzare thing about this whole thing is that his train accident occurred on September 25, 1995. Same day as his perforated bowel. Thank you for taking the time to read Ed's story
