Help Ed “Terry” Sylves Get His New Lungs
Ed “Terry” Sylves has always been a lover of the outdoors. Whether he’s riding his e-bike on the Rails to Trails, fishing at Pymatuning or the Allegheny River, or camping in Bedford, nature has always been his second home. His adventurous spirit has led him to places like Ohio Pyle, Armstrong Trail, Redbank Trail, and Freeport Trail, where he finds joy and freedom in every ride. Most importantly, he’s a loving father of five and a proud grandfather of six who cherishes every moment with his family.
Ed’s Battle with IPF
In 2019, Ed was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), a progressive lung disease with an average life expectancy of just 3 to 5 years post-diagnosis. Despite this, Ed has fought hard to stay active and keep doing what he loves. But now, he’s at a critical turning point—without a double lung transplant, his time is running out.
We are incredibly grateful that Temple Hospital in Philadelphia has accepted Ed for a double lung transplant. However, the journey ahead is long and financially overwhelming.
How You Can Help
Ed will need to remain in the hospital until he receives his new lungs, followed by weeks of recovery in the hospital. After that, he must stay in Philadelphia for months so doctors can closely monitor him for rejection and infection. While we have been blessed to find affordable housing at Howie’s House, Lori, his wife, had to quit working to be by Ed’s side, making this extended stay a major financial strain.
Your donation will help with:
✅ Housing and living expenses while they remain in Philadelphia
✅ Medical costs, including co-pays and life-saving medications
✅ Travel expenses for their extended stay away from home
We know this is a long road, but with your support, we can give Ed the gift of more time with his kids, grandkids, and the great outdoors he loves so much. Any amount helps, and if you can’t donate, please share this with others.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of Ed’s journey to new lungs and a new life!
