Help Ed Overcome Medical Financial Strain

Hi all, it’s Ed.
I’d like to start this by thanking all of my friends and family members who have given me the utmost love and support over the past year through the decline of my health.

Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder of my liver called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). PSC is a chronic and unfortunately progressive condition that causes inflammation and scarring of the liver. About a year ago my PSC progressed to stage 4 liver failure and my only option was a liver transplant. I was terrified of the trajectory of my life and potentially never waking up from a procedure like that.

November of 2023 things drastically changed, I was hospitalized, unable to work and my quality of life was rapidly declining. On December 15th at 4:00pm I was offered a donor liver and by midnight I was admitted into pre-op. The surgery went smoothly and four days later I got to go home. Three days after Christmas in a routine follow-up appointment my bloodwork was off. I had been feeling so tired and as it turned out my doctors found an inoperable blood clot in my biliary artery which left no other option than another transplant. I was immediately admitted into the hospital and placed at the top of the transplant list. The blockage in my biliary system caused a sever infection in my body and on December 30th I lost consciousness.

I have no recollection of anything until January 6th 2024. I was told I was intubated for 5 days and received my second liver on the 4th. It brings me to tears thinking about all of my loved ones who visited me and watched as the complications and additional procedures came and went. I would like to express my gratitude for your support.

Over the course of the next 3 weeks I was in the hospital healing, regaining my motor skills and the strength to walk. My doctors and nurses we amazing. The made me feel safe, took great care of me and assured me that I was on the road to recovery. I was finally able to return home on January 23rd!

My liver is doing wonders and I no longer feel sick however being on immunosuppressant drugs has it impossible for me to return to work. Despite my plans and best intentions; my multiple doctors visits a week, medications and additional surgeries and procedures have put a serious strain on my finances.

It pains me to ask for anything more but I am trying to raise money to help me cover some of my medical expenses until I am cleared to return to the workforce in some capacity.

Thank you so much for anything you can help me with. Your love and support thus far has meant the world to me, and I know I am in such a great place due to the out pouring of wonderful wishes from you all. I would also like to especially thank my partner, Francisco for being by my side since being diagnosed with PSC. His life changed drastically as well being next to me in the hospital holding my hand and watching me go from 170lbs to 123lbs and holding on to the hope that I would make it through. His love gave me so much strength and I can never thank him enough.
