Hi everyone, this is my husband, Edward McCorkle, (Ed). He's been on oxygen for about 3-years now, due to severe Cornic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, (COPD), (late stage Emphysema) and (Cornic Bronchitis). He's only 66, and has no life, beyond his recliner. He eats, sleeps and lives in it. It's a huge undertaking to get to the bathroom, or shower, and an all day process to make it to doctor appts.
He is currently in the Pre-Double-Lung Transplant process, which will be LIFE CHANGING! Unfortunately, all his pre-surgery doctor appts, the surgery itself, and all follow up appts, (for the rest of his life), will need to be done in Seattle, WA. (We are here in Astoria, OR so that's a minimum of 3 hours drive time. Closer to 4 with traffic.) He'll stay an average of two weeks in ICU following his surgery. Then a 3 to 6 month stay, (within an hours drive of the hospital), in case he gets an infection or his body rejects his new lungs.
We are working with the Transplant Team at UW Medical. Our Social Worker, Angela is helping us find options for housing while Ed goes through this process. (THANKFULLY, our insurance will cover the majority of the cost for surgery, doctors, operating room, hospital stay, etc.) BUT... She says we need to plan on spending between $3,000 and $5,000 a month, just for our lodging. (AirB&B, Hotel, etc.) WE NEED YOUR HELP! We CAN NOT AFFORD to cover our bills here at home, AND the cost of staying in Seattle for 3 to 6 months! Any amount you can give to help, is GREATLY APPRECIATED! We know that if God brings us to it, He will see us through it!
THANK YOU, SINCERELY, for ANY help you can give.
MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU!
A HUGE THANK YOU, to those that have made a donation! We APPRECIATE your LOVE and GENEROUSITY! We also APPRECIATE your PRAYERS and your SHARES of this post. GOD BLESS YOU!
