This fundraiser is for Ed Hansen's family in Costa Rica.

 

On July 29 Ed passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, leaving behind a grief-stricken family. 

 

Ed -- an Atlanta police officer who retired to San Jose, Costa Rica -- was a happy and seemingly healthy man. He was always ready to help his family, friends and even strangers visiting Costa Rica.

 

No one -- not his family nor his friends -- was prepared for his sudden death. Especially not his family in Costa Rica, who depended on Ed financially for everything.

Ed's wife Adriana and his sons Gabriel and Adrian could really use our help with living expenses until they can get back on their feet. Right now Adriana is struggling to pay rent and put food on the table, so she asked me to set up a GoFundMe on her behalf.

I was privileged to be Ed's friend for a decade. I went to his family's house in Heredia and later Guadalupe and saw first hand his loving relationship with Gabriel and Adrian and Adriana. Spoke to him many times about his hopes and aspirations for the boys and his wife.

 

I miss my friend Ed and if you're reading this I'm sure you do, too. I'm hoping that all of us who benefitted from his friendship, his wisdom, his sense of humor, and his familiarity with the wonderful people and country of Costa Rica can find within themselves the desire to honor Ed by sharing whatever they can with his family.
