My husband, Ed, the love of my life, soulmate, father, son and brother, is a truly remarkable man and has led an amazing life. Eighteen years ago, Ed lost his mom to Pulmonary Fibrosis and helped care for her in her final months. During Covid, Ed lost vision in his left eye, and about a year later, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and hypertension. Since then, Ed has been on 6 liters of oxygen 24/7, and when he stands, his oxygen drops and his heart rate increases to dangerous levels. He has since lost vision in his right eye as well, and hasn't been able to work for about two years, now relying on disability.

Ed's only chance at life is a double lung transplant. We will be commuting to a hospital that is hours away, and Ed will need to be within an hour of the hospital before the transplant and for three to four months after the transplant so he can receive the care and monitoring he needs to recover.

The financial burden of this journey is overwhelming. The funds we raise will help us cover Ed's past, present, and future medical bills, including those related to such a significant procedure before and after the transplant. I will also need to take a leave of absence from work for several months to care for Ed during his recovery, which will add to our financial strain.
