Ed Casimiro has been a pillar of the Rhum Shak community, joining as the very first employee and remaining a dedicated team member for twelve years, right up to the restaurant’s final day. Ed’s commitment to his work and the people around him has made him a beloved figure among both staff and customers. Now, as Rhum Shak’s doors have closed, Ed is facing a difficult chapter in his life. Due to transportation challenges, he’s struggled to find steady employment, and is currently one month behind on rent. His landlord has given him until June 20th to get caught up, or he will have to move out. Ed has a new job lined up with Kevin, the former owner of Rhum Shak, at a new place opening for Rodney Mayo in downtown West Palm Beach. But that job won’t start for another 8 weeks or so, leaving Ed in a precarious situation until his first paycheck arrives. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward paying Ed’s back rent, covering his next months rent, groceries, and basic life expenses. By aiming to cover three months of rent and living expenses, we hope to give Ed the stability he needs to stay housed and secure until his new job begins. Rhum Shak was family to so many employees and customers, and we are still trying to look out for our own. Almost everyone has landed on their feet, but Ed could use a little extra help right now.
