This fund was created to help Edward and his family through a life-altering tragedy.
The man you see in these pictures is our beloved Ed, a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, and role model. On April 19, 2021, we received a phone call letting us know that Ed had been rushed to the hospital and was being prepped for immediate surgery. He had suffered a traumatic injury at his work that resulted in the immediate loss of his entire left hand, and most of his right. Following the surgery, Ed was left a double amputee due to the extent of the injuries. On April 22, 2021, Ed was taken into a second surgery to check on his injuries. He now has his right hand gone except for just a single thumb connected by his wrist only. We are not sure how much function the digit will have.
Nothing is more important to Ed than his family’s well-being and making sure they are provided for; this incident has dramatically altered that. He has worked tirelessly nearly all of his 68 years without considering retirement because his life-long goal has always been to be the primary provider for his family. With two of his kids currently in school, this has been no small task as he aimed to support them in their educational goals by helping one daughter through medical school and the other through sonography school.
Ed never stops thinking about his family which includes, four children, two grandchildren, and an amazing wife of almost 30 years. The first thing he told us was that he would miss the tickle fights with his grandchildren and the tummy rubs he loved giving his dogs.
He found tremendous joy and comfort in his passions for woodworking, baking huge loafs of bread, smoking meat, fixing things around the house, working on his car, and so many more hands-on, labor intensive activities that he used to let his creativity flourish. Unfortunately, all of this is no longer possible. The severity of this physical and emotional toll he is enduring will continue throughout his entire lifetime.
He still has many more surgeries ahead of him, and years of struggling to cope and relearn what was once so natural. Ed and his family need all the love and support they can get in this situation, which is why we are humbly asking if people could please help our family as we navigate this challenging new chapter in our lives. Anything helps, whether it be a prayer, a dollar, or simply sharing the fund link with your friends and family.
