Help Eclipse Yoga reopen their Yoga studio & Wellness Centre

Hey all,

Thanks for making it here and taking the time to hear our story. My name is Steph and I'm hoping to raise funds to support the reopening of my yoga studio & wellness centre.

On March 6th I received a call from my landlord to say that one of the buildings in our complex had been set on fire. While we aren't directly next door to them, we do share the same roof space so we were left with substantial fire damage. Initially we thought it would be a fairly quick clean up, but after further inspection the whole building was covered in black soot and the smell of smoke was unbearable (especially for me who has allergies and chemical sensitivity). The damage meant our whole ceiling needed to be replaced, and the smoke smell wasn't able to be cleared until all the damage was removed which the insurance company estimated could take longer than 4-5 weeks.

While the actual building was covered by our landlords insurance, unfortunately our contents insurance had expired just days prior to the fire. Our lease was expiring at the end of February and we weren't sure whether we would renew or move to a bigger location so our landlord kindly offered to do month to month for a few months while we figured out our next moves (and so in the meantime, it completely slipped my mind to renew our insurance). We made the hard decision to close our doors temporarily, quickly secured our new location nearby and got to work to undertake the huge job of renovating and building the beautiful space we had dreamed of, and while we initially thought we could handle the financial pressure, renovations have taken longer than expected with a few bumps in the road which has left us closed for 2 months now.

This means that in one week I lost my main source of income, my teachers are out of work, I've taken on a new lease - all without insurance to cover the losses. It's taken me almost 2 months to admit that perhaps the financial implications are bigger than first anticipated, and while I am hesitant to vulnerably ask for help, it feels like the right time to lean on the community we have been creating for over 6 years.

We know that our new studio is going to be a dreamy and beautiful space, but we just need a little bit of support to get ourselves there. Our studio has been a safe place for many people over the years (including myself) and we hope to continue this work of sharing yoga, mindfulness, and creating wellness within the community.

Any help is appreciated - we acknowledge that not everyone has the capacity to help financially but even sharing this with your family & friends helps immensely.

Thanks so much for your time ❤︎
