Help ease the cost of mom's battle against cancer

My name is Heather and I want to tell you about an amazing lady I get to call my mom. I can tell you right now she is yelling my full name because she doesn't know I'm doing this. She is a very proud lady and she doesn't ask for help. My mom had me and my siblings (I have a brother and sister) at a very young age. She basically raised us on her own until she met a wonderful man who adopted us and loved us as his own. Sadly, their time was cut short when cancer took him from us. Again, my mom was our rock. Well, now it's time for my mom to lean on others, even if she doesn't like to admit it.

In January of this year, we thought mom had the flu. Just like everyone else, the bug came and went. She never got her appetite back. In February, she started having other symptoms and decided to be seen. She went to walk-in care. She was sent to the ER due to the results of some tests. On February 7th, we received the news that no one was expecting, Cancer!! Mom has cancer. Since receiving that news, our mom was hospitalized, placed in ICU, and we were told to prepare ourselves and consider comfort care for mom. Mom is a fighter and so far she has shown those doctors and cancer she isn't going anywhere, this includes work. She has always worked. She does have STD (short-term disability) through work, but with all of the time spent in the hospital, the travel back and forth to the doctor in Portland, her upcoming treatments (which will also be in Portland), if I can help lessen the cost of any of this and take just a little stress away I will be extremely grateful and happy.
