Help Ease the Burden of Breast Cancer Surgery and Recovery

At the beginning of this year, I began a series of tests that have led me to an overwhelming reality—I need a double mastectomy and reconstruction due to breast cancer. I am high-risk, carrying the BRCA2 gene and having an extensive family history of the disease. My recent imaging resulted in a BIRAD 4 score (4 out of 5), which signifies a strong likelihood of cancer. While I am still awaiting my final biopsy in April, my doctors have already determined that surgery is necessary, and depending on the results, I may also need chemotherapy and radiation.

As I face this challenge, my biggest priority is my family: my husband, our 6-year-old daughter, and even our two dogs. The upcoming months will bring travel, lost wages, and expenses that are simply beyond what we can manage alone.

Why I Need Your Help

While I have health insurance, I am responsible for 30% of all medical costs moving forward. In just the last five months, I have already spent over $6,000 on scans and biopsies, and the upcoming surgeries, treatments, and recovery can cost at least $16,000 out of pocket. Additionally, my first surgery requires travel from Florida to New Orleans, where I will need my husband as my caregiver, which means an increased financial burden for flights, accommodations, and pet care for our time away. We will need to make this trip again in 12 weeks for the second stage of reconstruction.

I am doing everything I can to explore financial assistance, but so far, the options have been limited. This fundraiser will help ease the immense financial stress on my family and allow me to focus on healing without taking on massive debt.
