Hello everyone, my name is Chyree garcia. This is for my husband, Mario Garcia's, medical bills and funeral expenses.
If you knew Mario, you'd know that he loved everyone. He was the kind of man to give the shirt off of his back to anyone. He was a hardworking, funny, caring christian man. He loved his family more than life, and loved all of his friends and co workers.
On October 19th, 2023 around 12 hours after the birth of his granddaughter, we received news that nobody wants to hear. Mario was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. We started chemo almost immediately, and he went through 12 sessions of chemo. His colon cancer would be evaluated after, as well as checking on his cancer in the lymph nodes.
Before we could get to that appointment on April 29th, 2024, Mario was having chest pains and was taken to Lovington ER. They thought he had part of a dead colon, as well as severe pancreatitis. There were no beds available close to his doctor in Lubbock Texas , therefore he had to be airlifted for the first time to Amarillo Texas at Northwest Texas Hospital.
After a 3 day stay of antibiotics, they discharged him home. They didn't send any medication home or any special discharge instructions nor restrictions. We drove home 4 hours away, and immediately after getting home he was sick again vomiting. They just sent him home saying he was okay, therefore he refused to let me take him back to the ER.
He spent the next few days in bed resting. It was Tuesday, May 7th of 2024 when I noticed my husband was Jaundice. We rushed him back to the ER in Lovington where they said he still had the pancreatitis and had also started to urinate blood. They airlifted him back to Amarillo Texas for the second time back to the same hospital, even though we requested to be sent to Lubbock close to his Oncologist, yet there were still no beds available.
We sat for 4 days in the hospital again, Mario wasn't receiving anything besides his murphy drip cathedar to clear the blood clots in his bladder.
He then had a procedure to put a tube in each kidney to drain them and let his bladder heal. They then attempted to do another procedure, in which they would go into his bile duct and drain what they thought was a blockage to the pancreas. This procedure was unsuccessful as the scopes were too thick for the biliary duct. They then had to put a PTC drain in the liver for the bile duct. When they did this procedure, Mario aspirated into his lungs. We were told it was all suctioned out and he was going into ICU to monitor his oxygen.
They never gave him any breathing apparatus's to help with his lungs after the aspiration. On Sunday, Mother's day, he was becoming more disoriented as well as anxious. I started noticing things weren't going correctly, therefore i started keeping better track, and asking more questions about his treatment and the plan. Mario was only on a canala to breath for oxygen, we were told the next step was cpap machine. After the doctors decided that he was of sound mind and body, they proceeded to put him on a ventilator without letting me communicate with him about this choice before. The minute they put him on the vent, his blood pressure plummeted and his heart rate skyrocketed, causing him to go into septic shock and multiple organ failure. He was then placed on dialysis and multiple pressors to bring up his blood pressure
I spent 3 days fighting for my husbands life in the hospital after that, and begging for him to be moved.
My husband passed away on May 16th, 2024 at 3:43am. I am not asking for handouts, I am now a single mother and down to one pay check. My family convinced me to ask for help with all of his medical expenses and things not covered by insurance. Between all the procedures, treatments, flights, ambulance trips, and funeral coverage, i'm looking at thousands. I appreciate everyone's help and prayers during this difficult time.
Thank you and God bless you all
