Here is a most unfortunate “Hello again”, but, Hello Again Everyone
It’s hard to believe, but just 6 short months after open heart surgery, Nikki has landed another long stay in the hospital and an even more intense battle for her life.
Nikki was taken by ambulance to Freeport Hospital nearly two weeks ago now, and found out that if she had waited any longer, then she wouldn’t be here today. She had C-diff and Staph infection, and was told that the infection spread to her heart once again.
Nikki is now in a hospital in Chicago, and the battle continues. She has “vegetation” (a build up of infected tissue) on her most recent heart valve replacement and a blood clot in her heart valve.
The plan was going to be immediate surgery to replace her already new heart valve, but due to the infection and the blood clot, they are going to continue a strong course of antibiotics and a blood thinner to see if there may be a chance of avoiding another Open Heart Surgery. The chances are not high, but the antibiotics have to be finished before a surgery either way.
Nikki’s first stay in the hospital was terrifying and unbelievably hard on her; a second time in less than 6 months is all of that and then some. These next few days/weeks/months could be some of the hardest to come, and we are once again humbly asking for any help that may be spared.
We thank you all in advance for any shares, donations, or love that can be passed on to Nikki at this time!
