Help Ease Micayla's Medical Burden

To know Micayla is to love her. Whether you are her beloved family, her friend, her nurse or physician colleague or her patient, it is impossible not to be affected by her irresistible spirit of positivity, humor, and strength. In 2019, at the age of 23, Micayla was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer with a genetic mutation and metastasis to her ribs and spine. Over the past 5 years she has endured various chemotherapy and clinical trials, and most recently has received the devastating diagnosis of further disease progression and metastasis into her cerebral spinal fluid, leptomeningeal disease. Since June 1, Micayla, with her husband Cody and her parents at her side, has been in the hospital more often than not with varying degrees of miserable symptoms and weighing out treatment options for this point in her disease. This week, she will begin proton radiation of her brain and spine at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

The battle ahead is excruciating. The cost of being unable to work with living expenses, medical expenses, and travel expenses is an enormous burden that we can all pitch in to help alleviate for this bright, beautiful person and her wonderful family.
