Help Ease MacKenzie and Lucas’s Medical Journey
Donation protected
My daughter-in-law, MacKenzie’s pregnancies have always been complicated by alloimmunization which means her body has developed antibodies that may cross over through the placental barrier and attack the baby’s blood. She is currently 32 weeks pregnant in her third pregnancy and the alloimmunization has caused the baby to develop anemia. To treat this, she will have to undergo three rounds of intrauterine blood transfusions done within the next few weeks. These procedures are done on an outpatient basis in Minneapolis and require her and her husband, Lucas, to be three hours from home for three days each time to complete pre-op bloodwork, the transfusion, and a follow up the day after procedure.
Since the procedure is done on an outpatient basis there are many expenses that MacKenzie and Lucas are having to pay out of pocket for including lodging, transportation related costs such as gas and parking fees, meals, as well as the medical bills that will accrue from each of these procedures. Additionally, each of these extended visits require both Lucas and MacKenzie to take time off of work resulting in a decrease in income during this time.
My goal is to make this already stressful time a little less stressful for their family by providing them some financial relief. Any assistance would be so appreciated by myself, MacKenzie, and Lucas.
