Help Ease Funeral Expense

Hello, my name is Amber. Since August of last year, my father has been first in the hospital, then a nursing home with slowly declining health. When he went into the nursing home, the hope had been that he would get better so that he could come home. Unfortunately, that isn't to be the case. I originally started this gofundme back in May, when we thought his time was coming and were going to remove him from the ventilator. Things took a different turn, and while we didn’t lost him then, the family and I had a long talk and decided that we didn’t want to put him through anymore. So we began looking into ways to get him home (he had been in a nursing home in another state). But, due to the ventilator and him being on dialysis, it was tricky. Our thought back then had been that if we stopped the dialysis then we might be able to transfer him closer to home. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out, so we made the hard decision of stopping the dialysis and moving him to hospice where he was. That all happened a couple of weeks ago, and since then he was slowly declining. Two nights ago, I received the phone call that he had passed. Though I knew that call would be coming sooner or later, it still came as a surprise because just the day before the update I received indicated that he was okay.

As a family, we’ve decided that we won’t be holding a viewing and funeral, and will just have him cremated out where he is then bring his remains back home. As I mentioned, though we knew he time was coming, we were still a bit caught off guard, and so could use any help that can be offered in offsetting the cost of the cremation.
