In June, my husband Blake Goldberg was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. To say it was shocking is an understatement...no one expects to be diagnosed with cancer at only 40 years old.
Luckily, it hasn't spread outside of the area that it's in but he will still have to undergo months of chemo followed by surgery. Given where the mass is located, it's important that he receives care from the best of the best so we turned to Sloan Kettering in New York City.
The next 6 months will be a blur of chemo treatments, copays, 2.5hr trips down to NYC, hotel stays, appointments, dog boarding, hospital days, and meals-on-the-go. It's going to be tough, but we're thankful because we know it could be worse.
Many have asked what they can do to help. I'm hoping that with your support, Blake can focus on healing without the added stress of the financial burden that cancer places on people. Any amount that you're able to contribute is appreciated more than you'll ever know.
Lastly...please go get a colonoscopy. If Blake had waited until the suggested age (45), it may have been too late.
