Earth Path aims to raise $10,000 this summer to realize its goal of building a 4-season cabin.
Deadline for raising the funds: August 31, 2019
What Earth Path is and does Earth Path is a non-profit organization whose mission is to nourish relationships with nature for a better world- through transformative, year-round programs that develop nature awareness, wilderness skills, environmental stewardship and a deep connection to all around us.
For 4 years Earth Path has been running its nature programs at Just Food Farm/Green's Creek natural area, reaching over 400 children each year, including at-risk youth. Our Affordability policy ensures that everyone can participate regardless of their financial means.
Why Earth Path needs a cabin Earth Path's main challenge is that we lack an indoor space, which can be particularly difficult in Canada's climate! Having a cabin will enable participants and our staff to:
- seek shelter in severe weather - warm up on extremely cold days - expand our programming and prevent class cancellations - safely store our supplies, and - offer a special nature-friendly space for community events
Cabin design and location This 24 ft x 16 ft cabin will be built using local timbers and will be off-grid, using solar power. Built on helical piles rather than a concrete foundation, it will be movable, in case we ever need to move our programming location. The cabin will be built at Just Food Farm; Earth Path's partnering non-profit, Just Food, has a 25-year lease on this National Capital Commission-run land.
WITH YOUR HELP, we can make this dream a reality Earth Path was given an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to help fund this project; all we need is an additional $10,000 from the community to realize this dream!
For those who care about healthy children, healthy communities, and a healthy environment, please donate. Any amount will help and be greatly appreciated! As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of people like you to keep delivering life-changing programs.
Your funds will go directly into building the cabin, and if we exceed our $10,000 goal, any surplus will go into fee subsidies for low-income families and schools.
Gifts to Donors: We are very grateful for each donation, whatever the amount. We will be weaving a dream catcher from natural fibers for inside the cabin. As we weave, with each cord we will offer thanks and well-being to all donors. For larger donation amounts, here are our additional offerings:
Cedar Donors: $100 - $199 - Free entry on an Earth Path field walk Pine Donors: $200 - $499 - Cedar Donors gift + Earth Path's 2020 nature calendar or enlarged print of your favourite photo (inspirational photos to be taken by E.P. kids and staff) Oak Donors: $500 - $999 - Cedar Donors gift + calendar + hand-crafted basket or wooden spoon (made by Earth Path kids and staff) Maple Donors: $1000 and up - All Donors gifts + your name inscribed on a plaque inside the cabin
For Pine, Oak and Maple donors, please email info@EarthPath.ca to claim your gift, mentioning your name, mailing address, and donation amount. Gifts will be mailed by the end of 2019.
