Help Dylin fight PKD

Donation protected
As many of you know, my sister Kristin was diagnosed with breast cancer last month. The same day, her daughter Dylin who battles an incurable disease called Polycystic Kidney Diease was denied by her insurance a medication she needs to help prolong her organ function. They were offered to buy it at $7,081.02 per month.

Dylin’s body creates mass cysts on her organs causing them to ultimately fail. The cysts become so large, they rupture, causing unbearable pain. She has had 6 rupture this past year, the most recent 2 weeks ago which led her to the hospital after it caused a fever.

Dylin, now 17 and a high school senior, has lived much longer than the average infantile PKD child. She has been so fortunate to not follow the general pattern, but this year she went from stage A to stage E, which is the worst. Her care has been transferred to specialists in Denver which will involve traveling often. When she turns 18 next year, the cost will be covered as she needs to be an adult to qualify for coverage of this medication.

While all of this is beyond life shattering for a parent, Kristin is doing it all while she is battling cancer. In fact, this is her 3rd cancer and she also has PKD. As I post this, Kristin is recovering from a full mastectomy from yesterday. In two weeks, she will begin chemo.

My prayers and goal are to have Kristin and her family see how we’ve all lightened their load financially. The bills have always been heavy since Dylin was born. Kristin has done multiple fundraisers for the research and cure for PKD, she’s the first to donate to Go Fund Me accounts to people she doesn’t even know. She has been beside herself trying to figure out how to pay for Dylin’s medication for the next year along with all her bills beginning to come in from her cancer treatments.

Kristin’s immediate family has no idea that her friends and I have been organizing this, but we feel that this is the best way to help our dear friend/sister and niece. Many of you have asked how you can help, and we feel that this would be the best way.

Thank you so much for considering all this and for your ongoing prayers and support. Donations can be made through GoFundMe or Venmo @kristincalderon0601
