At just 7 years old, Dylan was diagnosed with diabetes, and since then, he’s navigated the ups and downs of managing his condition. Over the years, the relentless demands of diabetes have taken a toll, and it hasn’t been easy. But Dylan has shown immense strength, growing into a young adult who continues to fight for a better life, despite all the challenges diabetes has thrown his way.
One day, while watching CBC News together, Dylan and his parents saw an inspiring story about a woman from Dartmouth who had just received a pancreas transplant. The transplant coordinator on the segment encouraged people across the Maritimes to reach out and see if they also may be eligible for the life-changing surgery and Dylan and his parents did just that.
In August 2023, Dylan began undergoing a series of tests in Nova Scotia, and by April 2024, he traveled to Toronto to meet with the transplant team. After careful evaluation, the doctors confirmed that Dylan would benefit from a pancreas transplant. This surgery could reverse the complications Dylan has faced throughout his life due to diabetes, offering him a fresh start and a chance at a healthier, happier future.
Now, Dylan has been confirmed as next in line for the pancreas transplant, and this is where we need your help. The surgery itself, while life-changing, comes with a huge financial burden. Dylan and Corrie, his mom, will need to travel to Toronto, where they will be away from home for 10 to 14 days for the transplant and recovery.
During this time, they will need to cover travel expenses, accommodations, and other associated costs—while also being away from work and their daily life in Nova Scotia. The financial strain of arranging a temporary living situation in Toronto while managing all the logistics of this major medical event is overwhelming.
We are asking for your generosity to help Corrie and Dylan during this critical time. Your donations will assist them with covering the costs of travel, accommodations, and the time away from work, so they can focus entirely on Dylan’s surgery and recovery.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a world of difference and ease the financial burden that comes with this life-saving procedure. With your support, Corrie and Dylan can face this journey with less worry and more hope for a bright future ahead.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity as your help will bring Dylan one step closer to a healthy, happy life free from the complications of diabetes.
