Dylan is my friend and coworker, he’s apart of the janitorial team and he is one of the most hardworking and caring people I know, always willing to lend a hand to others. Recently, Dylan faced a heartbreaking situation, after years of enduring abuse at home, he made the brave decision to stand up for himself. As a result, he was kicked out of his parents’ house and had to find a new place to live.

Dylan made plans with his sister and a friend to rent a house together, splitting the payments to make it affordable. But after Dylan signed the lease and made the move across the country, the friend backed out, leaving Dylan and his sister to shoulder the full financial burden. His sister is in school and receives some financial aid, but it’s not enough to cover their monthly bills. To make matters worse, the house they moved into was in terrible condition with black mold, a cockroach infestation, and an absent property management company. Dylan and his sister have had to deal with these issues themselves, and although they’ve looked into legal options, they simply can’t afford a lawyer to help them get out of their lease.

Now, Dylan is going deeper into debt every month, including a tribal loan with a staggering interest rate. He’s doing everything he can to stay afloat, but the risk of homelessness is growing.
