On Monday, Dylan was unexpectedly admitted to the emergency department after experiencing back pain and shortness of breath for the last week. Who would have imagined after going to your doctor thinking you had a respiratory infection, that Doctors would have discovered that his lung had fully collapsed needing immediate placement of a chest tube to help re-inflate the lung and release the built up air in his chest preventing his lung from expanding.

Right now, the medical team is closely monitoring the air bubble in his chest cavity, which has unfortunately been growing slightly. There had been some improvement yesterday but unfortunately by the evening, air had been escaping back into his chest. Surgery has been mentioned as a possible next step, depending on how his lung responds over the next 24 hours. We are hoping and praying his lung improves and the surgery is not needed.

Because of this sudden medical emergency, Dylan has been off work and will be unable to work for 4–6 weeks after being discharged from the hospital while he recovers. This unexpected situation has brought a financial strain with medical bills and everyday expenses piling up.
