My name is Sarah Adema-Sullivan and this GoFundMe page is for my Dad, Dwight, and Mom, Jennifer.

My Dad has stage 4 colon cancer. He has been suffering with stage 4 colon cancer since May 2023. His cancer metastasized from his colon to his lungs, liver, and is also in his blood. It is an incurable disease, unless by a miracle of God, of course.

My parents live in the State of Washington, far away from Michigan where my family and I live. In June of 2025, my dad also broke his hip by an accidental fall down the porch stairs, which resulted in surgery and extensive rehab. Recovery has been quite difficult while dealing with cancer on top of that. My Dad undergoes 50 hours of chemotherapy every 2 weeks. He has had almost 60 treatments. He has good insurance, but that’s not enough now. Cancer is a cruel, vicious, expensive disease. The cost has depleted most of their savings. There are continued cancer treatment costs, medicine not covered by insurance and costs associated with his hip replacement and recovery.

My Dad is a faithful man and knows God has his roadmap and has given him the strength to battle the cancer so far. As his journey continues, he finds his body continuing to break down.

It is our hope and great desire that my Dad and Mom can come for an extended visit with us. His cancer doctor has recognized my Dad’s strength, fortitude, and faith, and has given him the go-ahead to travel out of state and forgo chemotherapy for a short while to come and see his family for one last travel trip.

My husband and I have made a few trips out to visit my parents for a week once a year with all the grandkids, and once a year without, but we have exhausted our finances and credit cards and are unable to finance further trips to them. We even have a second mortgage now, which makes finding money to travel to them extremely difficult. My husband has not received PTO from his employer, and my PTO has been exhausted due to the trips and from having his first sweet baby girl grandbaby, who is now 5 months old. It is exciting to hear that his cancer care team is allowing him to make one trip to us.

My parents’ wish is to come to Michigan this spring/summer, where my husband Jeff and I live with their 6 grandchildren. There is also family in Denver, and a new grandbaby coming soon. A consecutive trip there is included in this funding request.

So my request is to give my Dad a chance to see our family one last time.

Estimates on travel expenses, airfare, car rental, and a VRBO for a month could cost $12,000 or more. A shorter trip to Denver might be an additional $6,000.

Our request is to make this trip happen. The only way this visit is possible would be through the generous donations of the GoFundMe family.
