There's been a Fatal Accident
For someone good at finding words, I find it hard to find words. I will only try.
Anyone who has met Duy Nguyen had a friend in him. He is my beloved friend, and we are both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. He served his 2-year mission in Cambodia and Vietnam. He believes in practical sanctification and seeking peace with all people as far as possible. We know him to be very faithful, always helping others and serving them with his infectious smile.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
Fourteen years ago, Duy came to know the church. While on his mission, he met an extraordinary girl who then got baptized by him. Several months after his mission, he came to see her and they got engaged and later married in the Laie - Hawaii temple
And just like every other happy home, they have lived in harmony for the past 11 years and never stopped loving one another. Although they're waiting on God for a baby, they are positive and prayerful, holding fast to their faith.
Currently, brother Duy serves as a district counselor in the church. He runs a business that was heavily affected by Covid. All the family went through a very difficult time needing to sell their house as a result of bankruptcy. Thus, they haven't been yet through a tragedy and then got hit by a second tragedy. But their faith and belief are as strong as the hardest rock!
Urgent help needed!
Two Sundays ago, while driving to church on a wet and rainy day, Duy suddenly slipped and fell to the road amid efforts to brake. The motorbike could not stop, and this hit hard on Duy's skull. He fell off hard and severely injured the other side of his brain. He was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital and got an urgent operation. Thankfully this timely intervention has availed him the opportunity to fight and hopefully cheat death.
Given my shock, I couldn't imagine his family's reaction on hearing those first words: There's been an accident... It has been about 3 weeks, and he is still in critical condition. The doctor says he can't predict anything. Everyone needs to keep praying for him. The entire Church in Vietnam is on bended knees for brother Duy.
It will be a long battle until he can fully regain consciousness and recuperate. His sister and his wife have to quit their job to take turns caring for him at the hospital. His business is also on hold. Additionally, he has three brothers and one sister. His wife also has three siblings. And as big brothers and sisters, they need to take care of their siblings.
His entire family of 12 is members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saint. They have been all faithful and firm believers. Their business was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic so they had to sell their house and now they are seeing Duy lying on a hospital bed!

Little hands make a big difference!
Please join me in wrapping this precious family up and supporting them the best way we can at this time! Funds will go towards the overwhelming hospital bill, continued personal loss of income until fully healed, and any further family expenses.
We hope that Duy gets a better chance to live. He has a long and suspenseful road ahead and will need medical and financial help. All the funds raised will go towards the overwhelming hospital bill, continued personal loss of income until fully healed, and any further family expenses. “Anything” you can donate to support Duy would be highly appreciated.
We're waiting for your kind support to see Duy smiling again with full potential. I will give updates. Thank you for taking the time to read this piece. May God bless you in return for any form of aid, even if pray. :)
All in all: We know Duy's got this!
