Hello, my name is Veronica and I’m making this go fund me for my brother Dustin.

As many of you know Dustin was born with 3 different heart defects and has had multiple surgeries and procedures with the first one at the age of 3. He has always strived to do his best and works hard to support his daughter. As a single dad it has been tough doing it alone, but he always manages to make everyday special for his little girl!

Dustin became ill a couple of weeks ago, with what he thought was the flu. He continued to get worse and on Monday my mom picked him up and rushed him to the hospital because he had a high fever and was very weak. Once he was tested and cleared that he didn’t have Covid, they started running tests from blood work to chest X-ray to EKG and found that his white blood cells were elevated. They did blood cultures and an echocardiogram to look at his heart. They started him on antibiotics right away and later found that he had an infection in his blood stream. On Tuesday the cardiologist talked with Dustin and my mom about his heart and the fact that it was only functioning at 35%. He shared concern of the infection being in his heart. They still do not know the cause or type of infection. So today they did a procedure to get a better look at his heart to see if his valves were affected by this infection. Thank the Lord, there was no obvious sign that his heart is infected. They are working hard on figuring out the right course of antibiotics to treat this horrible infection and are continuing to monitor his heart.

Dustin will be in the hospital for several days/weeks and be out of work for several weeks.

He is financially struggling and has asked for anything to help pay for living expenses and soon to be incoming medical expenses.
