Help Dustin Watkins Heal
I am Candace, the wife of Dustin Watkins. I am creating this GoFundMe account after request of people wanting to help and I know we're going to need it. I just don't know what to expect at this time. We are a two-income household. The biggest way you can help are to send real prayers of healing for my husband and have every person you know do the same as I don't know how else to help him. There is power in prayer and love. You just have to believe. Let your faith be stronger than your fear. The only thing that matters is his healing. We will figure everything else out.
Dustin tested positive for COVID on 7/19. On 7/22 I rushed him to the ER because his oxygen was extremely low and he was showing signs of this. Ultimately, he was transferred to two additional hospitals as of 7/25. He has a severe case of COVID. He is on a "special" treatment, ECMO, that is scary but it is helping him. He has a great team of people taking care of him and I pray that Dustin is strong enough and has a chance to fight this. Dustin is only 33 with a birthday coming in just a couple short weeks. He has 3 young boys that need their father and so many people that love him more than words. I have been so overwhelmed with the love and support that people I don't even know have shown me the past few days. Dustin is literally my heart beating outside my body. We need this man to heal.
I cannot even begin to comprehend what our financial burdens will be. We have no idea how long he will be in the hospital. There are so many factors. We keep being told that this is a lengthy process. Dustin isn't coming home tomorrow. Any money that is donated will go to my accommodations and travel to be able to be here at the hospital. I am allowed time to see him daily in a limited capacity. If these visits do anything for him that they do for me, he needs that strength. I need to see my husband and know he's okay and fighting. The hospital is located over 2 hours from our home. Donations will also go to any medical costs we incur. There is a possibility it will also go to keep our household bills paid and necessities if that need arises. This money will go to support Dustin and I through what's needed medically and to keeping our life running and ready for him to come back to.
