Duom and Deng are both former refugees who were sponsored to immigrate to Canada. Duom was sponsored through the WUSC Student Refugee Program. Both have worked hard since their arrival, going to college and university and working multiple jobs. Duom is now a Canadian Citizen and Deng will be eligible to apply in December. This spring, they were ecstatic when they discovered that Duom was pregnant – with twins!
This summer, Deng was tree-planting for his second summer and Duom quit her job sorting recycling materials because it was too physically demanding for someone pregnant with twins. All was going well.
And then two weeks ago, at 4 ½ months, Duom miscarried.
The loss of their twin sons has been devastating and the associated costs have added great strain to an already traumatic situation.
We are asking for your help during this difficult time. Your generosity will go directly to the financial challenges in covering the costs of the funeral and burial and other final expenses.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and remind Duom and Deng that they are surrounded by love and support in their new country. If you cannot contribute financially at this time, we would be grateful if you could share this appeal with others.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your willingness to support Duom and Deng during this very difficult time.
