Dunbotics are a robotics team established at Dunblane High School in 2021 thanks to Mr McKenzie.
Over the past 4 years we have successfully competed in several Robotics tournaments, the most prominent being FIRST LEGO League. “FLL" is a Robotics competition hosted in the UK by The Institution of Engineering and Technology and sponsored by the biggest tech companies in the world, such as Qualcomm, Bosch and many more!
Each year teams competing at “FLL” are given a mat with a new course. They must build, strategize and code their robot to win the most points by completing the course in a set time. The teams must also put together an "innovation project" which aims to solve a problem set by “FLL”.
Dunbotics have been to two UK finals after winning regional tournaments in Scotland. We have represented Dunblane High School in Birmingham at the Tomorrows Engineering Challenge Finals as well as in Harrogate at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge 2024 Masterpiece UK & Ireland Finals.
At the 2024 finals, Dunbotics had the top score out of all the Scottish and State funded teams. We also won the "Teamwork award" after being nominated by other teams for our core values and the help we gave them during the competition.
On the 5th February 2025 we won the Edinburgh Regional Tournament, coming 1st in Robot Design, Innovation Project, Presentation and Core Values. We now have the opportunity, to once again, represent the school and Scotland at an international level.
This is sadly our final year of competing in FIRST LEGO League due to age restrictions, we would absolutely love to be able to show them what we can do one last time.
We really hope to further our skills we have learnt during our time at Dunbotics and will use the STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), we have learnt over the years in our future careers.
WE REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT PLEASE?
With thanks!
