"I was just forced to make a rent payment by my landlord even with the natural disaster of a snow-ice storm hitting us here in Arkansas and preventing us from being able to leave our homes and kids go to school. We have been home for the past 10 days unable to work or do much other than live off of the supplies I purchased with our last check before the storm. We came down to just a few things left but the community was able to help us extend out a few more days. Many months ago, while going through treatment - I was tired of asking for help while going through chemo, and set up a payment plan for that month alone. I got a job, etc, etc. Basically, that one payment is still unpaid in full for months now. Although I have informed them every time that I am unable to make as large of a payment on it as I like, I have been chipping away. Two days ago, on my stream, I vented - a big vent, just about being tired with the world. A lot of you know what is going on in the USA, the turmoil, and uncertainty. I live in Arkansas, one of the worst States to live in - especially when you have health problems and are a minority. It's almost impossible to live, with a job, with a side job, and with streaming we barely make it by. We cut the potatoes thinner. One slice of bread cut in half to make a finger sandwich. You get it. I vented about my daughters' school experiences, about my wife's experiences, and my own experiences with these people when we go out at times. I should not have done that apparently. I don't know fully what has occurred, but this afternoon, two hours ago a text from my landlord informed me I had 5 PM today to make another payment in full for my unpaid rent. If not, they would be pressing criminal charges against me, I would be sought after arrest or expected in court. They have done their due diligence-
and I am currently reading through the wording of my lease alongside a lawyer-friend and a lawyer. We are coming to the same conclusion however, that there are no laws in Arkansas that state there is a particular way payments of rent have to be applied and in my communications with the Landlord it was clear that they meant January. They waited until the day before next month's rent due to put me in an impossible situation. There is no indication to me that there is any sort of hate occurring here in my direction. But, there are a few things I do know...
When I applied for the home I had to provide proof of income and other things. We talked about employment and what I claimed as income etc, Twitch being one, information was shared and nothing I have thought of since. However, I am white american, and was speaking to another white american, who did not know that my family are not all white americans. When he met us, through a smile and chuckle he made a comment about not knowing we were such a mixed family. My wife is biracial and our children are multiracial. I didn't think much about it but my wife said it was weird and was concerned that they may use my stream against us months ago. I was just focused on getting us shelter while I was sick, they have known about times when I did streams to raise funds. After finishing treatment, I focused on getting a job while juggling streaming still to help at least ease some financial struggle. Got a job, got an extra side hustle when low on hours, and still stream. I have not once spoken about the political side of things on stream other than saying I don't agree with it and it's fucked. However, I spoke more during my vent about personal moments and talked about wanting to leave Arkansas and how racist the people here are. I can't prove this, as I said - on communications alone and wording of the lease I am currently fucked. Timing and a strange comment and the fact they've never once spoken or came by when requesting maintenance with us directly has led to me seeing microaggressions that my wife points out and her family seems far more perceptive to with their personal experiences than I.
So there you have it, I am getting slumlorded on right now, and I am not knowing what to do but wanted to tell you all why I am stepping away - I have 2 hours or less to more or less figure this out or just accept that I will most likely be faced charges as they are speaking of doing and will have to take on another $25 dollars of debt each day it goes unpaid while I am in the county jail unable to make a payment on it cause I cannot work and my family cannot afford to bail me and will receive misdemeanor charges. And I don't say that to sound cynical, I am saying that I am actively on my phone discussing it with a lawyer who is experienced with rent laws and Arkansas and I have spent the past several hours sharing all my communications with them and VODs with. Whatever you do, just know that I have loved providing laughs for you, tears, and whatever else. I just wanted to bring smiles someway in the world even while I may not always have a smile.

(TLDR: Arkansas is the only state in which you can still be arrested for unpaid rent. I was squeezed to pay January’s rent after the snow storm, I am still paying on a monthly payment from months back when I was going through chemo but have been paying and keeping up my balance along with it. Just unable to pay it off in the agreed upon time and so now they are using that unpaid balance as a way to criminally evict me via pressing charges.)"

Dun is a very good friend of mine, and a great person. He is struggling and I want to help him anyway I can.

Funds raised will go towards groceries and any fees that come up during this situation.
