I’m sharing this on behalf of Morgan and her dog, Duke, after a horrifying and completely unprovoked attack that changed their lives overnight.

While Morgan was walking Duke in Linda Vista (near Fashion Valley / Mission Heights), they were suddenly attacked by a long-haired German Shepherd. The attack was vicious and targeted. Duke suffered severe injuries, and Morgan was left traumatized and helpless as the owner of the attacking dog refused to provide his information and fled the scene, leaving them both bleeding.

Duke was rushed to the emergency vet and fought through the night until 4am. What initially looked survivable quickly became far more serious. Duke sustained severe internal injuries, and his care has now escalated into multiple emergency surgeries.

Morgan has done everything possible to save Duke — emotionally, physically, and financially — but the medical costs are overwhelming and continue to grow. This GoFundMe was created to help cover Duke’s emergency veterinary care and give him the fighting chance he deserves.

Update – Second Emergency Surgery

Unfortunately, Duke’s injuries were far more extensive than originally believed.

On Saturday, Duke had to undergo a second emergency surgery due to severe internal damage caused by the attack. Despite everything he’s been through, Duke continues to fight — showing strength, resilience, and a will to live that has left everyone in awe.

Morgan has been faced with impossible decisions, emotional exhaustion, and mounting medical bills — all while being told by some that euthanasia may be the “easier” option. Morgan is choosing love, hope, and perseverance, and is doing everything in her power to save Duke.

The road to recovery is not over, and the costs continue to rise. Your continued support is helping Duke stay alive and giving him a chance at healing.

Urgent Update – Third (and hopefully final) Emergency Surgery

This week, Duke is facing a third emergency surgery, which doctors are hoping will be his final and life-saving procedure.

Duke’s body has been through unimaginable trauma. Despite the odds — and despite ongoing recommendations to give up — Morgan is choosing to fight for him. She believes Duke deserves every possible chance to live, heal, and feel safe again.

This surgery is critical. The financial burden is immense, and the emotional toll is even heavier. Morgan has barely had time to process what’s happened, let alone prepare for the costs associated with multiple emergency operations.
