This sweet boy, who we are calling Duke, wandered into our garage on 1/11/2020 during a bad storm.  He was severely underweight, dehydrated and had a wounded back left leg.  With all of those ailments he was still the sweetest boy. 

He spent that first night in our garage and we took him into the vet first thing in the morning hoping that he was chipped and we could find his family quickly, because this dog definitely belonged to someone at some point.  Duke is a handsome approximately 2 year old yellow lab, he knows all of his commands and is extremely loving.  Unfortunately he is not chipped and so far we've had no success finding his family.  We've shared on Next Door, Facebook, Instagram and missing dog sites and a lot of people are sharing our posts but so far he's unclaimed.

That brings us to this GoFundMe account.  The vet took a look at the wound and sadly it was septic and there was some necrotic tissue.   They've gone in and surgically cleaned it out, he's been on an IV drip of antibiotics and pain killers and the doctor thinks it's going to be a tough wound to heal, but he's optimistic.  There still is a chance they will need to amputate the leg, but he is being aggressive with the antibiotics he's chosen and thinks there's a chance he'll be just fine, but that we took him in just in time. 

We are going to try to give this boy a home with us, but any help with these initial bills would be a greatly appreciated.  Our vet is giving us a 35% discount on the bills for rescuing him and they've capped the expenses so everything else related to recovery from this injury will be covered by them going forward.  I'm also going to get him chipped as part of this campaign so he can find his way home again if he ever gets out again.

Please help us help Duke recover, he really deserves it.
