Help Duk Ju L. Kim recover from her apartment fire

Donation protected
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, Chicago artist Duk Ju "Linda" Kim's Bridgeport apartment building went up in flames before dawn. The entire roof was on fire, and all nine apartments were covered in ash, soot, smoke and water from the fire engines.

Our friend Duk Ju is a painter whose work has shown in galleries and museums. She and her dog Lilah escaped the fire and are safe, as are the other tenants in the building, but now she must face unexpected moving and cleaning costs, and replacement of valuable art supplies and personal effects. She is beginning the long process of sifting through how many of her artworks were damaged or destroyed by the fire and its aftermath.

Any help you can offer her will give her the chance to restore her personal life and her art studio. She is rebuilding her life from scratch. Everything you give — or any art you purchase* — will directly help with her basic necessities including shelter, clothing, and lost wages.

*Duk Ju L. Kim (see her website ) is represented by Zg Gallery where you can see and purchase her work.

Organized by friends Sharon & Michael Vitali, John Salhus, and Linda Lutton. Top photo by fellow tenant Joe Seger .
