Help Ducky Float to a New Pond

Some of you may know, my name is Ducky Jones, I’m a Black, Latinx, disabled, Intersex, agender, low income educator and organizer within the community. I have a sweet furry little kitty child, named Yzma, and we are both looking for a home to call our own. I am a lovely Leo who is “as loyal as a lion, and gentle as a pooh bear,” and who is deserving of your support in finding a safe and secure place to live. Yzma is also a Black kitty looking for a place to call home with the perfect spot to sunbathe in.
The reason that I direly need your support at this time is because, at my current residence, I have been experiencing misgendering, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia from both the apartment staff as well as directly within my living space by my roommate, who has also proselytized religion to me. As a result of an email sent to an apartment manager, my car was vandalized with white paint on the “secure property”. Not only do I not feel safe, but I am no longer a student, disqualifying me from continuing my residence at their apartment due to residence requirements outlined in the lease itself. Additionally, I was manipulated into signing a lease renewal, so now I have to move out before the lease goes into effect. I sent an email outlining my concerns to the apartment manager, but she has yet to take accountability for the creation of an unsafe environment. I have to move out immediately, I need to find a place of my own where I can feel safe, secure, and stable.
Due to the urgency of the situation, I need your financial support with moving costs. These costs will cover the following essentials:
- A motel stay between the date that my current residence forces me to move out and the date in which I can move into a new apartment
- The relet fee that is required for me to terminate my lease with my current residence
- The deposit for my new place
- First months rent
- Apartment application fees, background and credit check fees
furniture for my new living space, as my current living space is furnished
- Other moving fees, such as holding deposits and unexpected fees
I need this financial support ASAP due to the requirement that I move out by the 24th. My current apartment manager will hold me responsible for the new lease that I was coerced into signing if I do not move out by July 24th.
It would mean a lot to me to find a secure, safe, stable space of my own where I don’t have to experience more bad roommates and an environment and space that supports me continuing my work, my emotional and mental health, and allows me to continue to do my work for the community. It would mean a lot to me to be in a safe living space where I can celebrate my upcoming birthday with those I am close to. Without this help, I will continue to experience and face discrimination in my living space.
