Duby is my older sister, my role model, and my best friend. She’s always been the brilliant one in our family—magnetic, artistic, talented, and endlessly caring. She crochets beautifully, loves playing canasta with her friends, and is a devoted mother to her three boys: Carlos, Diego, and Miguel. Even now, she still brings them home-cooked meals to school every day. Duby is also a loving dog mom to Blacky and Pekito, and a wonderful partner to her husband Gabriel, who supports her with patience and love, especially during tough times and I'm beyond grateful for.
Recently, Duby underwent a partial mastectomy of her left breast. She is now recovering, but her journey is far from over. She needs to send her results to the US for an Oncotype DX test, which will help determine the best course of treatment. After that, she faces radiation and likely chemotherapy, which will leave her immune system very vulnerable. Both Duby and Gabriel are currently without jobs or insurance, and living in Venezuela makes access to quality care even more challenging. Our family is doing everything we can, but the costs are overwhelming and urgent treatment is critical.
As you can imagine, it is incredibly hard for me not to be right there next to her, and I feel so frustrated not being able to help much from afar. That's why we are raising funds to help cover the Oncotype DX test, radiation, chemotherapy, and any medical emergencies that may arise. Duby es mi hermana mayor, mi modelo a seguir y mi mejor amiga. Siempre ha sido la persona brillante de la familia: magnética, artística, talentosa y profundamente generosa. Teje a crochet de manera hermosa, le encanta jugar canasta con sus amigas y es una madre dedicada a sus tres hijos: Carlos, Diego y Miguel. Incluso ahora, les lleva comida casera a la escuela todos los días. Duby también es una mamá amorosa para sus perros Blacky y Pekito, y una compañera maravillosa para su esposo Gabriel, quien la apoya con paciencia y amor, especialmente en los momentos difíciles, algo por lo que estoy inmensamente agradecida.
Recientemente, Duby se sometió a una mastectomía parcial de su seno izquierdo. Ahora está recuperándose, pero su camino aún no termina. Necesita enviar sus resultados a Estados Unidos para una prueba Oncotype DX, que ayudará a determinar el mejor tratamiento. Después de eso, enfrentará radioterapia y probablemente quimioterapia, lo que dejará su sistema inmunológico muy vulnerable. Tanto Duby como Gabriel están actualmente sin trabajo ni seguro, y vivir en Venezuela hace que el acceso a atención médica de calidad sea aún más difícil.
