I am creating this GoFundMe in support of my dad, Duane Sakari. He had spinal fusion with hardware surgery in March of this year. He ended up with an infection and was hospitalized many times before undergoing a second surgery to “clean him out.” He then ended up with several more infections. He has been on oral and IV antibiotics for months with no success in getting rid of the infections. The infections then started to eat his bone, so he recently underwent his third surgery, a pelvis to T10 rod and fusion surgery. Shortly after being told the infection was gone after the 3rd surgery, They started removing the staples and they discovered he had 2 more infections..he is on his second wound vac. Each day for months has been a rough battle. We’ve had endless hospital stays and trips. My dad has recently been referred to the University of Madison, WI, to their infectious disease team. We will need to raise funds to travel to Madison and will have multiple trips and stays. I will also need to take time off work unpaid. My dad is on a fixed income with disability, and each journey and hospital stay has been costly for him as well as my sister and me.
